Understanding the Realities of ADHD: My Personal Journey

You can't scroll through social media without seeing the term "ADHD." While it's great that the conversation is opening up, it’s crucial to remember that ADHD is a genuine neurodevelopmental condition, not a personality quirk or a synonym for being a bit disorganised. Minimising it with phrases like "everyone's a little ADHD" diminishes the very real struggles faced by millions.

My own journey involved a later diagnosis (3 years ago), which brought a profound sense of clarity. Suddenly, many of my past struggles and experiences made sense within the framework of this neurological difference. For countless others, receiving a diagnosis is a pivotal moment, offering a framework for understanding themselves and their place in the world.

This personal journey ignited a deeper passion for empowering people to better regulate their emotions and understand their own behaviour.

A Local Commitment to Browns Bay

I have had the privilege of practicing in Browns Bay since May 2011. Over the years, I've come to know and love this community, and it's been an honour to support the health and wellbeing of so many local families. My deep roots here mean I understand the specific needs and lifestyle of our local community, and I'm dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors.

How I Can Support You?

I don't diagnose ADHD, that's the role of a psychiatrist or psychologist,, but my holistic approach can help you to navigate ADHD’s related challenges. My goal is to support your well-being by exploring the intricate mind-body connections that can influence daily life.

My treatments can include:

  • Applied Kinesiology

  • Nutrition and lifestyle guidance

  • Chiropractic adjustments (if needed)

  • Stress management techniques

This approach can help with issues like mood swings, sleep problems, and persistent worry, all of which often accompany ADHD.

A Complex Condition, Unique Strengths

ADHD is a complex interplay of genetic predispositions and life experiences. It presents differently in everyone—it's not always the hyperactive child you see on TV. Many individuals, especially women, experience internal restlessness or inattentive symptoms that are less obvious to the outside world.

While ADHD presents significant challenges, it's also important to recognise the unique strengths that often accompany it. Many individuals with ADHD are incredibly creative, possess a strong sense of intuition, and can exhibit remarkable focus and dedication when truly engaged.

Let's Work Together

I am passionate about destigmatising mental and emotional health. If you're looking for support to navigate the challenges of ADHD or any related health concerns, I'm here to help.
